Tandem Design Studio was founded by Tim Hill and James Murray in 1997.

Our approach has been brought to life over two decades and we continue to grow; our work made more dynamic by the diverse creative voices that inhabit our studio.

Our interest in public space has led us to work that addresses urban imbalances and drives value for our clients and the public. Our experience in public markets, schools, commercial spaces and public-private assets such as MONA drive our rich and collaborative approach to design.

While our heritage is diverse, we are a boutique studio that treats every new project – whether big or small – with care.

Methodology

TANDEM is a forum where concepts are developed, nurtured & edited in collaboration with clients.

Over the years, we’ve developed tools to orchestrate our internal design dialogue; images, phrases, open discussion & reflection lead us toward architectural drawings and models.
